Nova Scotia Sailors at Ice Boating Worlds

Five members of the Nova Ice Yacht Club (NIYC) traveled to the DN World and North American Championships in Wisconsin. It was something of a mystery tour as +8C temperatures and rain made ice hard to find. The Worlds started a day late in Madison before wet snow shut them down. After a day of searching for new ice the race committee and competitors moved 350 km to Green Bay. Warren Nethercote had the best NIYC result in the Worlds (111 Competitors) finishing 17th in the Silver Fleet. Bob Crinian led the club members in the North Americans (91 competitors) with a 7th place finish in the Silver Fleet.

Two Canadian champions crowned at Charlottetown Race Week

A J70 team with the regal name of Rex has been crowned Canadian champion for the third year in a row and a new team based in Prince Edward Island has won the Farr 30 Canadian title. Both classes competed at Charlottetown Race Week July 12-14.

Overall Winners of Chester Race Week 2012 Are All Winners!

Chester Race Week ended with glorious sun and good wind. The competitors were happy with the race management and the evening parties, which didn't start until 9:30 and were extremely well attended with 3 great local bands and wonderful Dark 'n Stormies at the bar. Sound like fun? Why not put it on your calendar for next year and come on down to Nova Scotia to enjoy the saltwater, great seafood, wonderful hospitality, and fabulous racing in Mahone Bay… a heck of a lot of sailors already do!

New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup – Canadians triumphant

In a reversal of fortunes from the inaugural event two years ago, the Terry McLaughlin-led team from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club persevered today to win the 2011 New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex, sailed in Swan 42s.

The New York Yacht Club team finished second, with the Annapolis Yacht Club team, third. The final race days’ light and shifty conditions gave all 22 teams the opportunity to shift positions on the leaderboard, but in the end most just solidified what they had already earned.
