Toronto’s Sarah Douglas qualified a spot for Canada in ILCA 6 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the first one in sailing for the country, while finishing in 24th position overall at the 2023 Sailing World Championships, held until Sunday in The Hague, Netherlands.

As we have reported, Severn II, a historic 8-Metre racing boat was involved in a collision during a recent race on Lake Ontario. The boat sank almost immediately – fortunately no-one was injured.

Thousands of sailors will make the trek to Annapolis, October 12-15 for the Annapolis Sailboat Show. For four days, the city comes alive with the largest selection of new multihulls you’ll find anywhere – over 50 registered so far.
It took a full day and lot of expertise, but according to owner Cedric Gyles Jr, the historic 8M, Severn II, is back to the surface and on her way to the repair shop. The Severn crew and likely the entire Toronto sailing community is hugely relieved to see the 90-year-old classic back from the depths.
