The Bare Leg team

Not only is Nova Scotia a beautiful place to sail, with its rugged coasts, deep blue waters, and strong winds, it’s also a place with fierce sailing competition. My all lady crew aboard Bare Leg, J24, have been racing against some of the best for the past three years.

We are switching it up this month though and training hard in the Soling. September 9th and 10th marks the Sail Nova Scotia Women’s Keelboat Provincials which brings together women from across Atlantic Canada for two days of competitive one design sailing. There are ten to twelve teams of three expected for racing at Armdale Yacht Club and they represent some of the best from across Atlantic Canada.

Switching to Soling

My crew and I look forward to not only racing against these accomplished and knowledgeable sailors but also having the time to socialize and learn from them as well. For every sailor, being part of a sailing community that encourages you to keep learning, to keep pushing, to keep sailing can be one of the most rewarding aspects of the sport and lifestyle. I look forward to benefiting from and contributing to the growing community of women sailors in Nova Scotia and to the sport as a whole here in Canada’s Ocean Playground.

Happy sailing,

Sarah
