Canada lowers the boom at Edge Midwinters

Mar 25, 2021

Talent will eventually reveal itself. Bruce Millar, a Canadian Paralympics sailor  has been working with Edge Sailing on a new jib boom and jib configuration. This month it seemed to hit a new level. Bruce took his modified 2.4 meter with a jib boom out and won the Edge Midwinters.  His scoreline was impressive, he threw out a second place finish.

The event had a range of conditions from light and lumpy to flat and gusty. The jib boom performed well in all conditions allowing “no touch” tacks and lightning fast jibes.

Millar, a member of the Sail Canada 2020 Sailing Team, is a native of Victoria, BC. He learned to race when he was 10 years old, while growing up on Toronto Island and racing through the RCYC Junior Club. He suffered a crushed spine in the crash of a hyperlight plane but in 1999 returned to sailing. Bruce competed in the Sonar class at the 2012 Paralympic Games and 2016 Rio Paralympic Games placing 10th overall.
