After two full years of hiatus in the schedule of the World Championships, the International Melges 24 Class returned to Worlds action May 7-15: it was October 2019 when in Villasimius Luca Perego’s Maidollis was crowned World Champion for the second time, and, after that moment the pandemic blocked everything, preventing the sailing of the 2020 and 2021 World Championship.

Four Canadian boats were in the tough field of 31. Fraser McMillan’s Sunnyvale from Royal Victoria YC finished 2nd in the Corinthian Fleet while National YC (Toronto)’s Richard Reid showed well at 10th overall after 11 races including a bullet in Race 5. Reid was the 2019 NA champ in the fleet.
