As we endure what I sincerely hope is the last winter storm of the year, it’s time to remind ourselves of what we can look forward to this summer. The biggest regatta in the Maritimes is Chester Race Week which will be held August 16th to 19th. So, here’s a nice video from last year’s regatta for inspiration:

In addition to the modern racing fleets, the regatta gets some of its character from the participation of the Chester Classics fleet. Some of these boats have been competing in Mahone Bay yacht racing since the 1920s. As part of the Chester Classic Cup Weekend the Outer Islands Race will see a wide selection of classic yachts participating. We’ll have more information on some these classic yachts in the coming months.
