• Popular Offshore Sailing School is opening a new location in Key West, Florida! Starting January 2024. The company has also added a new Boat Handling & Docking course, offering experienced sailors the opportunity to increase their skills and confidence with big boat maneuvering and docking aboard 40’-50’ catamaran and monohull yachts.

• Yesterday, Sail Canada honoured Paul Brennan from Toronto as Sail Canada’s 2022 Volunteer of the Year Award. The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes volunteers for their outstanding contributions to sailing activities at Sail Canada member clubs, sailing schools and regattas.

“When I received the award notification and started to read it, I assumed that it would be an award for an event or a race management team,” said Paul Brennan. “ABYC and CORK are both pretty active, have great people, and I knew nominations had been submitted. I was surprised and humbled when I realized that this was an individual award.”

• You can tell the America’s Cup is just a year away when the press releases start flowing. For example, on October 6: Coca-Cola joins 37th America’s Cup with global sponsorship agreement. And from the Mayor of Barcelona “We are ready to sail with you,” the Mayor of Barcelona assured, while the Head of the Catalan Government emphasized the “unquestionable uniqueness of the America’s Cup” and stressed that it is a “great opportunity for our country and to showcase Catalonia to the world.” The 37th America’s Cup begins October 12, 2024.

• M242 Wednesday Night Racing Champions!  Philip Cragg, Reto Corfu, Randy Vogel, Adam Korbin, and other crew in #13 M242 “Back In Black” win the RVYC Wednesday Evening Series via a clean sweep of each of the 5 monthly Series, and also the overall Champions! Nice work boys!!

We also saw one of our biggest turnouts ever for the last Wednesday Night party of the season with over 60 M242 racers at the Big Table! The Beer Night was a huge success, and a good time had by all.
