The First Regatta of 2024

On January 1st the Metro Marine Modellers sail division with the 50 Point Sailors secured their annual bragging rights by holding the first regatta of the year, an annual event hosted by the Oakville Yacht Squadron. They had 12 boats sailing and the classes included DF 65s (65 cm long) with A+ rigs, DF 95s, Solings, Victorias (all around 1 meter long) and an AC (loosely scaled on an America’s Cup model). It dwarfed of the other boats at 177 cm long with a 244 cm mast and weighs 14.5 kg and crossed the line first in their two races. All of the radio-controlled regattas adhere to the Racing Rules of Sailing. There may have been a few frozen sheets, but plenty of fun was had.

Catch the Metro Marine Modellers at the Toronto Boat Show on January 23, 24 and 25, sailing DF 65s with A rigs on the indoor lake. The races kick off at 6pm and boats are provided.
