Sail Canada, along with the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS), is inviting all Canadian sailing fans to Canada’s second annual Celebration of Sailing event which will be held in the afternoon of October 19 at the RNSYS.
We were saddened to hear of the recent death of noted C&C Yachts designer Rob Ball. Rob succumbed to injuries suffered in a recent fall on September 9th at the age of 79 at his home in New Bedford, Mass.
Jon bought his Thunderbird, Wampum, sail #245, in the mid 70’s. Wampum was professionally built by Richardson Boats Works in Meaford Ontario. At the time, there were three active T-Bird fleets in the western end of Lake Ontario: Whitby, Toronto and Bronte Harbour.
The International Etchells Class held its 2021 Canadian Championships, the first Championship since 2019, at Hudson YC. Oakville Yacht Squadron along with Regatta Chair and Fleet 1 representative, Michael Hasko, hosted this event with 13 boats registered from Oakville, Toronto and Montreal.
On November 28, Sail Canada announced that the 2019 Sail Canada Youth Championships will take place at CORK International at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (POH) in Kingston, Ontario.
What a difference a few days makes. On the Tuesday of the second week in February, the strategist of the Canada SailGP Team and National Sailing Team 49erFX sailor, Georgia Lewin-Lafrance from Chester, NS did the honours last week naming the team’s new F50 SPIRIT.
