Laser 28 Championship at RHYC Draws Registrants

The Laser 28 Class along with Royal Hamilton Yacht Club is hosting the North American One Design Laser 28 Championships. Racing starts June 30 through July 3.

Already registered are boats from Buffalo NY, Halifax, Ottawa and Montreal to race against the Lake Ontario fleet in Hamilton.

The excitement is building as the Laser 28 fleet shows it is alive and well. This design has well stood the test of time. Owners feel you cannot own a better “bang for the buck” boat as far as comfort and speed! 

Plans include:

June 30: Long distance race, BBQ reception
July 1: One design starts within the RHYC Open Regatta, followed by food, beverage and band, then a huge fireworks display presented by the City of Hamilton over the Bay.
July 2: One design racing, followed by food, beverage and band.
July 3: One design racing, followed by awards.

The Laser 28 was designed in the 80s by Ian Bruce with sails by Hans Fogh and rig designed by Bruce Farr and Bruce. Click here for more about the Laser 28 impressive history.
