As has been the recent tradition, the ABYC Open will kick off the 2019 season. PHRF Racers will sail around the buoys on Saturday and will enjoy a “coastal” race on Sunday. The IRC and one-design fleets will race around the buoys both days.

Bring your boat in on Friday evening and join in the fun as the Mudmen entertain outside (weather permitting).

HEY ABYC and QCYC Members!

Once again the challenge has been issued. Last year, ABYC got thumped by QCYC and the ABYC Commodore was required to dress as a sausage at the Weiner Ball.

If you don’t want to see your commodore humiliated this year, be sure to register for the ABYC Open and the QCYC Open.

DoggiesABYC/QCYC Open Regatta Challenge for 2019
In keeping the tradition of ABYC/QCYC Open Regatta Challenges and as the winning club for 2018, on behalf the Queen City Yacht Club, I issue the following Commodore’s Challenge to ABYC for Bragging Rights Around the Spit 2019-2020 (also known as BRATS) as follows:

Each club’s score will be the sum of the number of its PHRF-LO sailboats which compete at the ABYC Regatta and the number which complete at the QCYC Regatta, i.e., a sailboat that competes at both regattas will be worth two points for her club’s score. Only the Saturday races at the ABYC Regatta will count. For clarity, a sailboat which is registered for a regatta and is scored Did Not Complete (DNC) for every race completed by its class, will not a point for her club.

QCYC will magnanimously give ABYC a handicap of half a sailboat, a swing of three in favour of ABYC over 2018.

The results will be announced at the QCYC Regatta Party. The losing Rear Commodore will offer will offer a suitable acknowledge of defeat.

PosterAny issues or disputes over this Challenge will be adjudicated by panel of at least three certified Sail Canada judges from clubs other than ABYC and QCYC.
QCYC will be glad to attend the ABYC Weiner Ball 2020, where the losing Commodore will serve the winning Commodore a sausage on a bun and a refreshing sailor’s beverage.
