If you sail on the Great Lakes long enough, you are going to need to deal with summertime squalls. Because of the landlocked humid continental climate, we see very hot summer temperatures that lead to convective weather events.
As we have reported, Severn II, a historic 8-Metre racing boat was involved in a collision during a recent race on Lake Ontario. The boat sank almost immediately – fortunately no-one was injured.
It’s been a quiet couple of years for Dragon sailing in North America. In 2020, most events, including Club Racing, were cancelled until late in the summer. But by 2021, a full set of local events were held. With the US-Canada border now open in both directions (with some restrictions), we expect 2022 to be better.
