ILCA NAs – Canada Secures Two PanAm Spots

Congratulations and thank you to James Juhasz and Clara Gravely who qualified a spot for Canada in the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 events at the 2023 Pan American Games with their performances at the 2022 ILCA North American Championships that ended Sunday, bringing large ILCA fleets to Kingston.

In ILCA 7, James Juhasz won the bronze medal amongst 51 sailors, while other Sail Canada Development Squad members Luke Ruitenberg finished 5th, Liam Bruce, 7th, Forrest Wachholz, 8th, and Ryan Anderson, 10th.

In ILCA 6, Clara Gravely took the 4th spot (third on the women’s side), followed by Coralie Vittecoq in 5th place (4th on the women’s side), in a field of 121 athletes.

The 2022 ILCA North American Championships were the first 2023 Pan American Games qualifying regatta for sailing. The 2023 Pan American Games will be held in October 2023 in Chile and the next regional qualifier will be at the 2022 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 World Championships to be held in Nova Scotia in September.
