Youth: Tall Ship Adventures During BC Spring Break

Mar 13, 2025

The Sail and Life Training Society (SALTS) is offering new sailing camps for youth ages 13-24 this Spring Break (March 17-21 or March 24-28).

Young people will spend 5 days surrounded by the natural environment, making new friends, andlearning to sail a traditional tall ship. Trips begin and end in Victoria’s upper harbour and explore the Gulf Islands. Youth will row ashore in fishing dories to explore marine parks and enjoy activities together. Evenings are rich with games, singing, laughter, and stories.

SALTS offers coastal sail training programs for 1700 youth from all walks of life each year on tall ships—the Pacific Grace and Pacific Swift. As youth live on board, they learn to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, problem solve, and take responsibility through activities like steering the ship, setting sail, plotting a course, participating in chores, and standing watch.

The charity’s motto is “training young people, by the sea, for life.”

There is a cost of $970 per person, but financial assistance is available for young people who cannot afford it. For details or to sign up, visit www.salts.ca/spring-sails.html.
