Every year, Canada recognizes 30,000 outstanding individuals from all walks of life who have made a meaningful impact in their communities. This medal, established on May 6, 2023, marks the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and serves as a symbol of dedication, service, and community spirit.

“To celebrate, I hosted a small gathering because I believe this award belongs not just to me, but to everyone in my family and community who has made a difference. Together, we all contribute to Canada’s strength and spirit.”

Earlier this month, Claudia Chender, MLA, Leader of the Nova Scotia Official Opposition presented the medal to Daisy Cobden, longtime sailing volunteer and enthusiast in Halifax. Daisy is always enthusiastic and, among other ongoing activities, served as lead volunteer at this summer’s SailGP event.

As part of a trading card fundraiser, Daisy was previously honoured early last year with a card at Sail NS’s  4th Annual Celebration of Excellence. The Sail NS team honored so many remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of sailing.

The Helix team is highly visible thanks, in large part, to Daisy’s efforts.
