Webinar: 2026 Racing Rules Refresher

October 23, 2025

Longtime Sailing in Canada contributor, Dave Dellenbaugh has scheduled a four-part series that will review and expand your knowledge of key rules and how they apply to common situations around the race course. This will be a ‘deep dive’ with lots of practical (and some tricky) examples to help improve your racing confidence and performance.

The webinar begins Monday, November 24 at 8:00 pm EST (GMT -5) and continues on the following three Mondays. Each session goes for 90+ minutes and includes video, diagrams, animations, and quizzes. The content is geared toward racing skippers and crews with intermediate to advanced rules knowledge, and participant questions are welcome throughout!

Dellenbaugh explains the contents, “We’ll cover typical rule situations that occur at the start, rules that are often broken on upwind and downwind legs, and of course, the complex rules that guide us at mark roundings. The goal is to make the rules simpler to understand and easier to recall, plus we’ll discuss tactical options for each scenario. Part 4 will be a detailed Q&A about your questions that have been asked (but not yet answered) during the webinar.”
