The 2017 Canadian Invitational Blind Sailing Regatta

Blind Sailing

July 27, 2017

REGATTA DATES AUGUST 18, 19, 20, 2017

The event will be sailed in Flying Tiger 7.5M small keel sport boats at the National One Design Sailing Academy, 14 Bronte Road, Oakville, Ontario.

This is an invitational event for teams of blind sail crews.

A team compliment will consist of 4 members:

• one visually impaired helmsman
• one visually impaired mainsail / traveller trimmer
• one sighted crew
• one sighted tactician

Sailboat racing provides people who are blind and vision impaired the opportunity to feel liberated from the daily limitations they experience. The freedom to choose and control their own course is a precious freedom the sighted world takes for granted.

The first ever Canadian Invitational Blind Sailing Regatta took place in Oakville, Ontario in 2016 and Accessible Media Inc. created this video of this great event.
