Georgia Lewin-LaFrance and Madeline Gillis from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron posted the best ever finish for a Canadian boat in the International 420 class at the Youth World Sailing Championships when they finished in 6th place at the event held in China in early December. 25 countries took part in the class.

In the Boys Laser Radial event, Ryan Anderson also from RNSYS finished in 16th place in the 51-boat fleet. Other NS results included Pat Wilson and Arie Moffatt 14th in the I420 and Helen and Theodora Horanjic 11th in the Nacra 15 fleet.

Team Leader for the event was Agustin Ferrario, who leads the race team program at RNSYS.

The Detroit Cup 2011, which is an ISAF Grade 2 event, has witnessed an impressive display of determination, patience, and skill beyond his nineteen years by Australian Jordan Reese and his team of Henry Kernot and Harry Thurston who have won the title in an exciting five match final at the Bayview Yacht Club.

The team defeated Kiwi Laurie Jury in an exciting Final that went to all five matches in the first-to-three point series.

2.4mR Pre-Worlds win to Helena Lucas

Sailor Helena Lucas of Great Britain took the win in the 2011 U.S. 2.4mR Class Association Pre-Worlds over Paul Tingley of Canada and Bruce Miller who tied for second place.

Tingley, who led the regatta on the strength of two wins on Day One, managed only two eighth-place finishes, one a throw-out, on Saturday. Millar posted two –fifths Saturday to catch Tingley after starting the day three points back.

Christening of ABYC mark/pin boat named to honour of Jack Cameron

As a now Honorary but long term member of ABYC, Patrick Lymburner was asked to say something about Jack Cameron, at the christening of the new mark/pin boat named in his honour. Pat was quick to point it that, 'It is not hard to think of the many whose lives were touched by this man, as his contribution to the Sport of Sailing is legendary.'

Jack was an International Judge whose career spanned many years and many World Championships. He was known for his great understanding of the rules and for his strict adherence to proper procedure.
