Lake Ontario Offshore Racing 2017 Event Dates

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing announces its 2017 Offshore Sailboat Racing event dates and would appreciate the inclusion of this information in any publications or posting you may be issuing regarding the 2017 boating season:

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

EVENT Dates Description
Lake Ontario 300 Challenge Race (LO300) presented by Drive.HG Starts on Saturday, July 15th and onwards A 300 NM race (the Main Duck course), and a 300 KM race (the Scotch Bonnet course) around Lake Ontario from Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC) and finishing at PCYC. This race is open to single handed, double handed and fully crewed keelboat and multihull sailboats. A component of Ontario Sailing’s Offshore Championship for PHRF and IRC. 
Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR) presented by Drive.HG Friday, June 2nd into Saturday, June 3rd A 75 NM overnight race on western Lake Ontario Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC) and finishing at PCYC. This race is open to single handed, double handed and fully crewed keelboat and multihull sailboats. A component of Ontario Sailing’s Offshore Championship for PHRF and IRC.
Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS) A series of races for single and double handed keelboat and multihull sailboats on western Lake Ontario.
Race 1: Sunday, June 4th A great warmup for the LOSHRS season, this 17 NM day race starts from PCYC and finishes off Toronto Islands via Clarkson. 
Race 2: Saturday, June 17th A 24 KM race starting at PCYC and finishing at Youngstown, N.Y.
Race 3: Sunday, June 18th A 24 KM race starting at Youngstown and finishing at PCYC.
Race 4: Saturday, August 19th into Sunday, August 20th A 100 NM overnight race starting at PCYC and ending at PCYC. This race is a qualifier for Great Lakes Singlehanded Society (GLSS)’s series of solo races on the Great Lakes.
Race 5: Saturday, September 16th A 21 KM race starting at PCYC and finishing at Port Dalhousie Yacht Club.
Race 6: Sunday, September 17th A 21 KM race starting at Port Dalhousie Yacht Club and finishing at PCYC.

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) of the Port Credit Yacht Club (PCYC), is dedicated to bringing the offshore sailboat racing experience to Lake Ontario. This is accomplished with its running of the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge Race (LO300), including the Solo Challenge, the Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR) and the Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS) offshore sailboat races. This is augmented by LOOR’s educational series throughout the Lake Ontario basin and promotion of other activities related to offshore racing. A key focus of LOOR is the safety of offshore racing.
