Beneteau America Returns from 2015 China Cup

Beneteau China Cup

Beneteau America has returned from its first participation in the 9th China Cup International Regatta, which was held in Daya Bay, Shenzhen from October 30th to November 2nd. It is the first Chinese event to be listed on the “International Sailing Federation calendar”, and also the largest one-design regatta in Asia. Every year, the event gathers over 100 crews from more than 30 countries.

Team Beneteau America was comprised of Beneteau dealers and staff members, including the President of Beneteau America, Laurent Fabre, and the company’s Sales Manager for sailboats as skipper, Chris Doscher. Participating dealers were Thomas Span from SMA Yachts, Rick Day from South Coast Yachts and Charles Devanneaux from NAOS Yachts.

Team Beneteau America ranked 9th in a field of 25 competitive teams within the Beneteau First 40.7 class. WanhangLongcheer skippered by Steve Mconohey won the class, edging out Emirates Team New Zealand by only a few points.

“While all teams naturally prefer being on the podium, this event was still a great success for Beneteau”, said Beneteau America’s Chris Doscher. “We rewarded some of our top dealers with an extraordinary experience, and have laid the groundwork for other Beneteau teams to come back here and compete. The race was also a great success for the race organizers. The Chinese authorities really put on a good event. I am sure it will continue to grow as more sailors learn how exciting, competitive and welcoming China is to racing sailors from around the world” commented Doscher.
