Thetis Island Marina and the Maple Bay Yacht Club announce that the 23rd Annual Thetis Island Regatta will take place this weekend on May 12, 13, 14, 2017. Once again there will be a race around both Thetis and Penelakut Islands, followed by the famous barbeque. This regatta is open to all classes of sailboats.

Maple Bay Yacht Club is happy to be sponsoring the Around Thetis Island Race this year. After 22 years Ladysmith Yacht Club has passed the torch to Maple Bay Yacht Club as co-host of the event. Thetis Island Resorts new owner, Wayne Procter is looking forward to welcoming the sailors as they participate in the 23rd running of the regatta. The regatta remains part of the popular Vancouver Island Racing Series. Registration is on Friday night, with racing on Saturday and the boats departing on Sunday.

Maple Bay Yacht Club race committee said “We will strive to keep the race up to the standards that Ladysmith Yacht Club have set.” The date is May 13, 2017 with the usual pre-race functions starting on the 12th.

This race is a favourite in the Vancouver Island racing series as it brings the sailors to a destinationfor the racing, the comradery and the party.
