SinC IceBreaker 2022 Logo 400Now renamed as the 'Canadian Olympic Classes IceBreaker Regatta Committee,' the 51st Annual IceBreaker Regatta will be held on May 21 and 22nd, 2022, at Etobicoke Yacht Club (EYC).

The IceBreaker has been held on the long weekend every year since 1970 (bar two Covid years) and is usually the first competitive sailing event of the season in the GTA.

This 51st Annual IceBreaker will also be an Ontario Qualifier for the Canada Summer Games Team.

The event is open to all ILCA 4, ICLA 6, ILCA 7, 49er, 49er FX, 29er, 420, 420 white sail, 2.4mR, KiteFoil Open class, and Wind Foil Open. Additional classes may be added if a minimum of five boats register.

The European portion of SailGP Season 4 got underway this weekend in Saint-Tropez, France. Having hit record breaking speeds last year on the Côte d’Azur, Phil Robertson and the Canadians were looking forward to this weekend of racing, but things did not turn out as hoped. A penalty in the pre-start of race one was a precursor of what was to come, and it proved difficult for the team to recover.

A collision with Spain early on in race one set the team back and translated into eight penalty points for the event and an additional four penalty points for the season.
