• Ashbridges Bay YC held the Donald Summerville on Sept 23 with strong turnout in five divisions of FS and NFS and multiple courses. The open event included club finishes for ABYC and for the Lou Lalonde Frostbite Race at neighbouring THSC. Complete results HERE.
• Sail Canada recently announced that Brianna Brand of Chestermere, AB, Head Coach at the Calgary Yacht Club, has been selected Sail Canada Coach of the Year for 2022 and that that Alex Byczko of Toronto, ON, Head Instructor at the Westwood Sailing Club, has been selected Sail Canada 2022 Instructor of the Year, presented by Checklick.
• The new episode of “Whitecap”, the Canadian sailing podcast, is now available and the guest is Andy Roy, one of the top Laser sailors in the world in the early 1980’s and one of the current top ILCA masters sailors in the world, as well as a silver medalist at the 1983 Pan American Games in Venezuela, tactician in the 1987 America’s Cup, and principal helmsman on the Canada’s Cup and Admirals Cup.

• The 55th Barcolana, the monster regatta in Trieste, is now underway. During the 54th edition of the Barcolana, photographer Carlo Borlenghi took over 1,200 portraits of people in the event, including yachtsmen, racers, organizers, and the public ashore. Since last September, 800 images have been displayed around the city through posters and advertisements on buses in the windows of shops and restaurants. Borlenghi will be taking portraits on Friday, 6 and Saturday, 7 October, aiming to reach the symbolic milestone of 2,000 pictures.
