SailGP hosted a Halifax Launch Event last Thursday to mark general tickets going on sale for the 2026 Canada Sail Grand Prix, with remarks from Mayor Andy Fillmore, SailGP Regional Director of Americas Elizabeth Benesh, and athletes from Canada’s NorthStar SailGP Team, along with Sail Nova Scotia representatives. Following the presentation outside the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic of the Waterfront, fans and members of the public had the opportunity to grab autographs and photos with the athletes, and free SailGP merchandise was handed out.

The Rolex SailGP Championship, co-founded by Larry Ellison and Sir Russell Coutts in 2018, is an annual global championship in iconic cities around the world, redefining the sport of sailing with its close-to-shore stadium racing.

Halifax Harbour will put a spotlight on Canada’s ocean playground when it hosts the seventh stop of the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship from June 20-21, 2026. Thirteen teams will race in identical F50 foiling catamarans faster than wind speeds over 100km per hour.

With the world’s fastest and most technologically advanced racing just metres from the shore, the Rolex SailGP Championship will provide Canadian racing fans with a front-row seat to speed and innovation as it redefines the sport of sailing for generations to come.

Halifax will once again show itself as the ultimate on-water arena, turning the Canadian swing of the championship into a rallying cry of pride and excitement as fans cheer on the NorthStar SailGP Team.
