Sail Canada Introduces the 2023-2024 Canadian Sailing Youth Squad

May 17, 2023

Sail Canada announces the list of sailors who will be part of the 2023-2024 Canadian Sailing Youth Squad (CSYS). This year 25 athletes have been selected into the 2023-2024 CSYS following their participation and evaluation at the 2023 CSYS Trials Camp held last January. In order to be invited to this CSYS Trials Camp, sailors must attend a regional or national Talent ID camp and receive a nomination from the Sail Canada High Performance Director on recommendation of the Sail Canada representative overseeing the Talent ID camp.

Athletes that are selected to the CSYS are given access to enhanced development opportunities along with priority selection to the Identified Athlete Program (IAP). Enhanced development opportunities may include but are not limited to:

  • Access to select training opportunities with the Canadian Sailing Development Squad
  • Access to national coaching at selected regattas
  • Yearly training plan consultation with Sail Canada technical staff
  • Work with the Sail Canada technical staff on developing their racing skills within their regional and local training environment
