Sail Canada announced today that Mike Milner will be moving on from the organization

Sept 13, 2024

Serving as High Performance Director for six and a half years, Mike Milner was a significant contributor to the successes of the Canadian Sailing Team and his leadership supported the growth of Sail Canada’s Development Squad, the development of the Sail Canada Identified Athlete Program and investments in coach development.

“On behalf of Sail Canada, I would like to truly thank Mike Milner for his work and service to the organization,” said Sail Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Kelly. “Mike worked tirelessly, day in and day out, to support our coaches, support team and athletes and we are grateful for his leadership. I would like to wish him the best in his next endeavours.”

During the transition period, Sail Canada’s Chief Technical Officer Ken Dool will take on the lead of the High Performance Program. Sail Canada will announce further details about the High Performance Director candidate search and hiring process in the near future.

“It has been a privilege to work with dedicated athletes, coaches, support and office staff pushing Canada to the top of the sailing world”, said Mike Milner.

“I could not have asked for a better team, whether at the Olympics or watching our National provincial and club coaches running our National Talent Identification Camps,” added Milner. “The progress of performance sailing in Canada is undeniable. Our implemented system of Talent ID, the Identified Athlete Program, the improvement of the Development Squad results, and the ongoing Podium athletes working towards medals is at the core of what we do.

“As I leave my position at Sail Canada and move on to other projects, I look forward to and support the new leadership at Sail Canada, and the path forward to success.”
