The Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame, Sail Canada and the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston have announced the 12 people who are part of the class of 2022 that will be inducted into the Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at the Kingston Yacht Club, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The Beneteau First 36.7 North American Championship regatta is returning to Toronto’s National Yacht Club for the first time since 2011 on September 8-11, 2022. The fleet will sail up to eleven races through the three-day event on racecourse located on Lake Ontario southwest of the Toronto Islands.

CORK, the Canadian Olympic training Regatta Kingston, is Canada’s largest annual sailing regatta. CORK was established in 1969 by a group of enthusiastic sailors who knew that Kingston was an ideal location for large international sailing regattas.

Canada’s 2021 Olympic competitor, Sarah Douglas from Toronto’s Ashbridges Bay YC, won the gold medal in ILCA 6 (Laser Radial) at the World Sailing Hempel World Cup that was held at the 51st Princess Sofia Trophy in Mallorca, Spain, which ended last Friday.
Close to 40 young Canadian sailors were in action last weekend for the Midwinters West competitions held in California. At the ILCA-NA Midwinters West held at Marina del Rey, Andre Deseau was the top Canadian with a second-place finish in the ILCA 4 class.

On March 16 Sail Canada announced that three-time Laser Olympian in Sailing, Andrew Lewis, has been named ILCA 7 Canadian National Team Coach. Lewis competed in three Olympic Games in Laser (ILCA 7). He first took the 37th spot in 2012 in London.
Helly Hansen Chester Race Week, August 10 to 13, is back and bigger and better for 2022! Organizers were so delighted to have a successful Race Week in 2021, and even with the public health requirements, the sailing was awesome!
