LOOR Season Starts Up!

SinC LOOR 2023 Start

April 19, 2023

The LOOR (Lake Ontario Offshore Racing) season kicks off on Friday, June 2nd – and is the 2023 Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR). Running since 1955 and fondly referred to as the ‘Coolest Race on the Lake’, the Susan Hood is a 75 nautical mile overnight race that kicks off the racing season. The event is open to fully crewed, short-handed and solo sailors and is followed on Sunday, June 4th with the Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS) Race #1 – a 16 nautical mile Course Race.

Registration for all Lake Ontario Offshore Racing events are open. The Early Bird Deadline for the SHTR and LOSHRS Race #1 is Sunday, April 30, 2023.

To encourage all Racers to register early there are Early bird registration prizes:

$100.00 CAD credit card, one per each of SHTR, LO300/LO600, and LOSHRS Full Season

To be eligible, payment in full must have been received by last day of reduced fees.

LO600 update

For all those long-long distance racers, the LO600 returns in 2023. The Lake Ontario 600 Challenge occurs every other year and 2023 will mark the FIFTH opportunity for you to circumnavigate the lake twice – giving your fly swatter a really good work out!

LOOR issues this invitation:  Whether you and your crew are ready for that extra challenge. Even if you don’t race the LO600, all racers of the Susan Hood TR, LO300 and LO600 are welcome to join us at our post-race party after the LO300/600. We have already booked the post-race party on July 21 to give out flags and party with our crews. Special thanks go to Chris Bobyk from Mimico Cruising Club for hosting this year!
