The Thermopylae Regatta at Royal Vic is an annual event with many fleets – our shot comes via the Martin 242s. The Thermopylae was a celebrated clipper in the 19th century bringing tea and cargo from the East to posts like Victoria, where she became part of the city’s seafaring culture.

Photographer Andrew Madding is a long-time sailor and photo enthusiast who has been shooting sailing in Victoria for decades… We will do a feature on Andrew and some of his work in an upcoming issue.
