Cedric (Ced) Gyles passed at his home in The Blue Mountains, Ontario, on Sunday September 24, 2023, at the age of 96. Best known most recently to the sailing community aboard his 8-Metre Norseman, he entered the class back in 1953 with the Fife 8-Metre Concerto.
The 505 class in Canada is active and the list of events is on their website. It’s a small class but an active one. The 505 World Championships wrapped up on Sunday, October 1 in San Fransisco.
The 2023 Canadian 2.4mR Championship was held September 22-24 at The National Yacht Club in Toronto, Ontario. The fleet of 26 boats was the largest ever at a Canadian 2.4mR National Championship and attracted entries from Puerto Rico, United States as well as British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario.
