2024 Shark Schedule Announced

Jan 17, 2024

After a huge year in 2023, the CSCA Board is excited to announce a 10 regatta schedule for the 2024 season. A big thank you to all the host clubs for supporting the Canadian Shark Class allowing us to get the schedule launched so quickly.

2023 was a season of extremes with a no wind start and crazy winds to finish! Throughout the year, over 100 Sharks competed in the 2023 season. As a class, we continue to see new faces buying and restoring the Sharks that have been on the regatta circuit for many years. A true testament to the longevity of the Shark 24 sailboat.

2023 Shark of the Year

Congratulations to Peter Van Rossem and crew on Jonathan Livingston Seagull #276 for winning the 2023 Sid Dakin Trophy Shark of the Year!

  • 2nd place – Levi Harper, Rampant #1012
  • 3rd place – John Brunt, Devil with a Blue Dress #176
  • 4th Place – Greg Cockburn, Eager For More #1481
  • 5th Place – Cameron Smith, Toga Party! #718

This year CSCA also would like to recognize the winners of the new categories of Silver Shark and Bronze Shark. The winner of the Silver Shark for 2023 is David Castle of Rocket Appliance #165. The winner of the Bronze Shark for 2023 is Daniel Steinitz of Airrush #36.

The Shark Class had 98 different teams compete at the counter regattas in 2023. The most active clubs this year at away regattas were NOLSC with 19, RHYC with 13 and NYC with 13 boats each.

Shark of the Year for 2024 will be calculated based on competitors’ best five regattas and must include the Canadian, World, or Continental Championship.
