CORK has had a busy start to July with foiling taking the spotlight so far this summer.

CORK hosted the 2023 WASZP Americas Championship from June 28th – July 3rd with an impressive fleet of 33 boats including competitors from Canada, the United States and Argentina. SailGP Inspire’s Grand Final winner, Gavin Ball (USA) from Hawaii, took home the top spot, followed by Thomas Sitzmann (USA), Matthew Stranaghan (CAN), Pearl Lattanzi (USA), and Jackson Macaulay (CAN) rounding out the top five respectively.

Next up CORK hosted the FOILKingston / FORK / CORK Olympic Classes Regatta (Formula Kite) from July 7th – 9th. This event saw the WASZP competitors compete for the Canadian WASZP Championship with Andrew Chisholm winning the Canadian Championship title. The iQFOILs competed in the CORK Olympic Classes Regatta with Anna Sagulenko (CAN) winning all but one out of nine races. Second place went to Anton Nemchinski (CAN) and third to Paul Wortmann (CAN).

There was some tight competition on the Formula Kite course with twelve races taking place. The Formula Kite class competed for the CORK Olympic Classes Regatta title as well as the Sail Canada Senior Championship. Casey Brown (USA) had a very successful regatta finishing first overall, Mac Morrin (CAN) placed second, and Michael Brodeur (CAN) finished third.

The Formula Kite event was also a World Sailing Youth World Championship Qualifier. Congratulations to Nathan Pearce (CAN) – top youth!
