49er & 49erFX Senior Championships

Kingston hosted close to 60 athletes for Sail Canada 2022 49er and 49er FX Senior Championships, presented along with the 29er Canadian Championships during the 2022 CORK Olympic Classes Regatta, July 21-24.

In 49erFX, the Tokyo 2020 Olympians Ali ten Hove (Kingston, ON) and Mariah Millen (Toronto, ON) finished first, followed by the bronze medalists at the 2021 49erFX European Championships, Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance (Chester, N.S.), and Sophie Fisher and Steven Hardee. 

49er championships 2 400In 49er, Will Jones and Evan DePaul, also the Canadian representatives at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, won the gold medal, followed by Sail Canada Development Squad members Arie Moffat and Sam Bonin, and by Dylan Jones and Jonathan Kelly.

In the 29er class, Thomas Desrochers and Ford Amery took the first spot, followed by Mattias and Andreas Koechli, and by Callum Bowness-Linegar and Callum Ruch.

The next Sail Canada Championships to be held this summer will be Sail Canada 29er Youth Championships, August 4 to 7, followed by Sail Canada ILCA 4, ILCA 6, Club 420 and International 420 Youth Championships, August 9-12, and Sail Canada ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Senior Championships, August 13-16, all in Kingston.
