The Nepean Sailing Club is gearing up to host the 2022 National Capital Cup with competitors from across Ontario and Quebec. An annual event since 2004, the National Capital Cup on July 9-10 is Ottawa’s biggest regatta for sailors with physical disabilities and is a preparatory regatta for the national Mobility Cup, taking place in Cape Breton, NS, at the Northern Yacht Club, from August 29 – September 2, 2022.

The regatta’s sailors will race in Martin 16’s, an all-Canadian design by noted Vancouver Yacht Designer Don Martin.

Through the use of innovative technology, Canada has become a leader in making sailing accessible to people living with disabilities. The Nepean Sailing Club is considered a centre of excellence in Ontario for disabled sailing and has sent representatives to National and World Sailing Championships.

About the Nepean Sailing Club

Located in Dick Bell Park in Ottawa’s west end, the Nepean Sailing Club is one of Canada’s largest sailing clubs, with close to 2000 members. It is a family-oriented, volunteer-based organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging active participation by members and the general public in the sport of sailing and recreational boating. The Club was started in 1979 by a group of sail enthusiasts from local communities and the City of Nepean. A great deal of what one sees at the club today is due to volunteerism and a love of boating.

Located in an award-winning pavilion, NSC features a restaurant, hall, and lounge overlooking the harbour, with stunning views of the Ottawa River and the Gatineau Hills.
