An opportunity to introduce more Canadians to the sport of sailing

Clubs, schools and other organizations involved in sailing across Canada will again be invited to take part in the 2022 #GoSailing Week, which will be held June 20-26.

Led by Sail Canada, this initiative, which will be held for the second time, will aim to introduce more Canadians, especially new families, to the sport of sailing over that special week and involve them in different activities to be held in partnership with the Provincial Sailing Associations as well as clubs and schools from across the country. The events will be held in accordance with the public health and social measures that are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Activities such as a short introduction to sailing followed by a short session of cruising time on the water, visiting a boat, enabling unprivileged kids to try sailing, a nightly parade of illuminated boats — all ideas are welcome to introduce new participants to such family activities, in addition to initiatives such as eSailing, normal or radio-controlled races, posting photos supported by hashtags that promote participation, as well as challenges among club members.

Want to organize an activity?

Organizations that are looking to take part in #GoSailing Week can post, by June 15 at the latest, a list of the activities they will offer throughout the week of June 20-26 at www.sailing.ca/gosailing.

In upcoming months on this same web page, clubs and schools will also find promotional material, including the logo for #GoSailing Week and a press release template.

Canadians who would like to get themselves and their families acquainted with sailing will find a list of the different activities organized by clubs and schools over the week of June 20-26 on the same web page. These events will also be promoted by Sail Canada, which will spearhead this initiative to promote our sport at the national level.

There will be plenty of promotional opportunities on #GoSailing Canada Days! Sponsors and supporters are invited to contact Sail Canada to get on board: marketing@sailing.ca.
